The Petition To Change Was Started By D-B Student Whose A Senior And Said She’S Proud Of Her School, But Believes The Indian Mascot Is A Harmful Portrayal. Alumni George Pierce Started A Counter-Petition In Favor Of Keeping The Mascot. Both Petitions Have Gained Support. Kingsport School Board President Jim Welch Said There Are No Current Plans To Discuss The Matter, Despite The Petitions.
