A look at Virginia Elections this morning. In Washington County Virginia, Sheriff Fred Newman had no problems winning a third term after garnering nearly 70 percent of the vote. He was happy with the outcome despite some earlier claims about his deputies….

Tricia Phipps was chosen as County Circuit Court Clerk. She had served as interim clerk since Kathy Crane retired last spring. Republicans won control of the Wise County Board of Supervisors. Sheriff Ronnie Oakes easily won re-election for a fourth term. Terry Kilgore had no problems winning re-election in the 1st District House of Delegates race. Meanwhile, in Scott County Virginia, there was an upset in the Sheriff’s race. Republican Jerry Broadwater lost to Democrat W. John Puckett. Smyth County Sheriff R. David Bradley has won re-election. There were several other races throughout Southwest Virginia. The election will be certified in the next week. newman.mp3
