A Wythe County Virginia General District Court Judge Has Issued A Writ Of Mandamus Against The Tazewell County Department Of Social Services For Violating The Freedom Of Information Act. This Is A Court Order Compelling Someone To Execute A Duty They Are Legally Obligated To Complete. The Department Is Accused Of Failing To Submit An Answer To A FOI Request From Attorney Fred Harman. Interim Social Services Director David Taylor Said He Was Unable To Find The Plan And Contacted The State, But Received No Answer. Judge Gerald Mabe Ordered The Agency To Pay Harman’s Attorney For His Time And Mileage As Well As What He Spent On Filing The Suit.
