The Child Abuse Reporting And Enforcement Center, Or Care, Is Changing Procedures In Southwest Virginia Due To COVID-19. The Care Center, Which Serves Buchanan, Russell And Tazewell Counties, Is Now Using Additional Technology As Part Of Its Investigations. Care Conducts Forensic Interviews In Child Abuse Cases Reported In Those Counties. Forensic Interviews Are An Option For A Child To Tell His Or Her Story Of Abuse To Only One Trained Interviewer, Rather Than Repeating It To Multiple Agencies. The Center Will Be Conducting Video Interviews Throughout The Summer Or Until Social Distancing Restrictions Are Lifted.
