Will work with at-risk youth
THE BRISTOL TENNESSEE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN AWARDED A GRANT TO WORK WITH AT-RISK YOUTH. THE 150-THOUSAND DOLLARS WILL BE UTILIZED TO HELP CURTAIL CRIMES COMMITTED BY JUVENILES. ACCORDING TO CHIEF BLAINE WADE, PART OF THE FUNDING GOES TO SALARY SUPPORT FOR A POLICE OFFICER WHOSE RESPONSIBLITY WILL BE TO SEEK OUT AND IDENTIFY AT-RISK YOUTH AGES 10 TO 17. OFFICER PRESTON BOWERS HAS BEEN SELECTED TO SERVE IN THIS CAPACITY. BOWERS’ WORK WILL INVOLVE NETWORKING WITH MEMBERS OF THE LOCAL JUVENILE COURT SYSTEM, YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS, AND THE NINE SCHOOLS IN THE BRISTOL TENNESSEE CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM.
