Derek Evan Fisher

A 35 YEAR OLD RURAL RETREAT VIRGINIA MAN AND A 14 YEAR OLD MALE JUVENILE ARE IN CUSTODY AFTER ALLEGEDLY SHOOTING A SMYTH COUNTY STORE CLERK IN THE FACE DURING A ROBBERY. DEREK EVAN FISHER AND THE TEEN ARE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED CAPITAL MURDER AND ARMED ROBBERY IN THE INCIDENT AT THE VILLAGE TRUCK STOP IN THE GROSECLOSE SECTION OF THE COUNTY. ACCORDING TO SHERIFF DAVID BRADLEY, THE TWO SUSPECTS WERE FOUND A SHORT TIME LATER, HIDING IN A HOUSE NEARBY. MEANWHILE, FISHER IS ALSO CHARGED WITH FURNISHING A JUVENILE WITH A FIREARM IN CONNECTION WITH A SEPERATE EVENT THAT OCCURRED EARLIER IN THE DAY. HE’S ALSO CHARGED WITH BREAKING AND ENTERING A DWELLING, THEFT OF A FIREARM, POSSESSION OF A FIREARM AFTER A FELONY CONVICTION, AND PETIT LARCENY. THE CLERK REMAINS IN A BRISTOL HOSPITAL IN STABLE CONDITION.
