A TROUTDALE VIRGINIA MAN IS FACING CHARGES AS THE RESULT OF THE THEFT OF A LARGE AMOUNT OF METAL FROM A LOCAL BUSINESS. ACCORDING TO WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF FRED NEWMAN, 36 YEAR OLD ROSS EDWARD TRENT WAS CHARGED WITH THEFT AFTER ALLEGEDLY STEALING APPROXIMATELY 95-HUNDRED POUNDS OF ALUMINUM FROM APPALACHIAN CAST PRODUCTS IN ABINGDON. TRENT WAS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE COMPANY. AN INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT 316 ALUMINUM BARS HAD BEEN TAKEN FROM THE BUSINESS OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS. SHERIFF NEWMAN SAID TRENT WOULD TAKE THE ALUMINUM BARS TO THE BACK OF THE BUILDING TO BE WEIGHED, AND DURING THE MEAL BREAK WOULD PLACE THEM IN THE TRUNK OF HIS VEHICLE. TRENT IS SLATED TO APPEAR IN COURT ON DECEMBER 12TH IN WASHINGTON COUNTY GENERAL DISTRICT COURT. TRENT IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN THE SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA REGIONAL JAIL UNDER A 25-HUNDRED DOLLAR BOND.
