The Appalachian Literacy Initiative Has Received 45-Thousand Dollars In Grant Funding From First Book. The Money Will Be Used To Hold Book Fairs At Bristol Virginia Elementary Schools And Expand Program Offerings In Abingdon, Wise, Norton, Dungannon And Gate City. Teachers In Tennessee Who Are Enrolled In The Appalachian Literacy Initiative Program Will Receive A Gift Certificate To Be Used For Classroom Books.
