Sullivan County Leaders Could Consider A New Option Dealing With The Overcrowding Situation At The County Detention Center. County Mayor Richard Venable Is Talking With Corecivic On A Plan To Build A New Jail And Then Lease It Back To The County. As Part Of The Agreement, Corecivic Would Cover Maintenance Expenses As Well. The Jail Is Built To Hold 600 Inmates But Currently Has Over A Thousand. Venable Hopes To Present A Plan To Corecivic Soon.
