A Federal Judge In U.S. District Court In Abingdon Virginia Has Ruled The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority Violated The Rights Of A Non-Profit Organization And Has Ordered The Case To Proceed To A Jury On Damages. The Human Rights Defense Center Sued The Jail Authority. Judge James Jones Said HRDC Met Is Burden Of Demonstrating That The Jail Authority’s Book Ban And Preapproval Process Leaves No Alternative Means For HRDC To Exercise Its Right To Communicate With Prisoners. The Human Rights Center Wants Declaratory Relief Plus Attorneys’ Fees And Costs.
