TESTIMONY GOT UNDERWAY ON TUESDAYAFTERNOON IN THE TRIAL OF ONE OF FOUR PEOPLE CHARGED IN THE 2006 BEATING DEATH OF A CITY MAN IN AN OVERGROWN SECTION OF THE CITY KNOWN AS “THE JUNGLE.” GARY HENSON IS FACING CAPITAL MURDER, ROBBERY, AND CONSPIRACY CHARGES. MEANWHILE, TWO WOMEN ACCUSED HAVE ADMITTED TO LESSER CHARGES. 37 YEAR OLD ANGELA DILLARD PLED GUILTY TO SECOND DEGREE MURDER, ROBBERY AND CONSPIRACY IN EXCHANGE FOR SERVING 20 YEARS IN PRISON AND TEN YEARS ON PROBATION UPON HER RELEASE. 38 YEAR OLD TAMMY WILLIAMS PLED GUILTY TO ACCESSORY AFTER THE FACT OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER, ROBBERY AND CONSPIRACY. SHE WAS SENTENCED TO NINE YEARS IN PRISON AND FIVE YEARS OF UNSUPERVISED PROBATION UPON HER RELEASE. MEANWHILE, TRIAL FOR ANOTHER DEFENDANT, RICHARD LEWIS, WAS SEPARATED FROM HENSON’S TRIAL. HE WILL HAVE A COURT DATE SET SOON. THE VICTIM, 54 YEAR OLD JERRY STOU,T WAS FOUND BEATEN, BLEEDING AND UNCONSCIOUS LAST SEPTEMBER. HE DIED TEN DAYS LATER AT A LOCAL HOSPITAL FROM THE INJURIES HE SUSTAINED. HENSON’S TRIAL IS EXPECTED TO LAST THE REST OF THIS WEEK.
