Two Bristol Virginia Police Officers Will Not Be Charged Following A Shooting Last Month That Involved A Resident Who Raised His Rifle And Pointed It At Law Enforcement. Smyth County Commonwealth Attorney Roy Moore Said 71 Year Old Paul Meade Had Suicidal Thoughts And Had Surrounded Himself With Weapons That Day. When Officers Arrived, They Repeatedly Commanded Mead To Show His Hands, To Which He Persistently Refused. When He Raised And Aimed His Shotgun They Were Left With No Other Alternative But To Defend Themselves.
