The Tennessee Bureau Of Investigation Is Probing An Officer Involved Shooting In Kingsport At The Request Of The District Attorney General’s Office, That Resulted In The Arrest Of A Georgia Man. Kingsport Police Located A Stolen Vehicle On Truxton Drive And Initiated A Traffic Stop. The Driver, 25 Year Old Shannon Michael Carter Threw The Vehicle In Reverse, Striking One Of The Officers And Pinning Him Against His Patrol Car. He Then Accelerated Forward, Nearly Hitting Two Other Officers. One Of The Officers Fired A Shot At The Vehicle, But No One Was Hit. Carter Was Later Apprehended In Hawkins County Near Volunteer High School. Carter Is Charged With Attempted Criminal Homicide And Two Counts Of Aggravated Assault. He Reportedly Faces 16 Felony Charges In Georgia. The Officer Was Treated At A Local Hospital And Released.
