The Sullivan Jail And The New Extension Have Both Failed Recent Inspections By The Tennessee Corrections Institute. According To TCI’s Inspection Reports, Both Facilities Failed To Meet Applicable Minimum Standards In May And Follow-Up Inspections In July. Deficiencies Listed In The Reports Are Overcrowding And Issues With Equipment And Inmate Beds At Both Facilities As Well As Insects In Several Areas Including The Main Jail’s Kitchen. The Sheriff’s Office Must Submit A Plan Of Action To The Agency’s Board Of Control At Its September 5th Meeting.
