Hawkins County Has Received A State Grant That Will Be Used To Help Target Student Obesity. The 12-Thousand Dollar Grant Will Be Provided Annually For The Next Five Years. During The 2016-17 School Year, Just Over 44 Percent Of School-Aged Children In The County Were Considered Overweight Or Obese, Which Is Well Above The State Average. The Funds Will Be Used For Infrastructure Development, Professional Development And Training As Well As Technical Assistance.
