Lee County Virginia School Officials Are Looking At Arming Select Employees. The Two High Schools And Two Middle Schools Each Have A School Resource Officer But There Isn’t Enough Money To Put Officers At The Five Elementary Schools In The County. Instead Of Hiring More Sro’s, The School System Is Looking At The Possibility Of Arming Select Employees Who Complete A Rigorous Training Regiment. The School Board Is Working With Sheriff Gary Parsons To Put A Plan Together. If Approved, It Would Cost At Least Eight Thousand Dollars A Year To Put One Or Two Armed Employees At Each School. This Is About A Third Less Cost Of A Full Time Sro.
