Johnson City Is Continuing To Slowly Move Forward On The Knob Creek Road Bypass Project. Public Works Director Phil Pindzola Said Th It’s Intended To Bypass A Single-Lane Tunnel And Transform The Roadway Into 5-Lanes. The Design Phase Cost 1.1 Million Dollars With Construction Set To Run An Estimated Roughly 18-Million Dollars. 12-Million Of That Amount Will Have To Come From The Tennessee Department Of Transportation Or Be Split Between The City And The County. If Funding Can Be Secured Soon, Bids For The Work Could Go Out As Early As The Spring Of Next Year.
