As It Tries To Find Ways To Get Out Of Debt, Bristol Virginia City Council Is Considering Consolidating Its Jail With The Southwest Virginia Regional Jail. The Regional Jail, Which Would Serve Bristol, Is Located Just Outside Of Abingdon. Bristol’s Jail Is Considered Out Of Date And Overcrowded. It Was Built To Hold 56 Inmates, But Regularly Houses 150. Bristol Sheriff David Maples Said The Deadline For City Council To Decided On The Fate Of The Jail Is July 1st.
