A Man Who Was Seeking A Constable Position In Carter County Is Now Facing Perjury Charges After Allegedly Lying On His Application. Roy Allen Coffey Submitted An Application Last Month To The County Election Commission. He Swore He Had Never Been Convicted Of A Felony. During A Check Of His Criminal History, Investigators Found Several Felony Convictions, Including A 1989 Guilty Plea Of Indecent Liberties With A Minor In North Carolina. Coffey Will Appear In General Sessions Court Soon To Answer The Perjury Charge.
