Roy Coffey Claimed He Had Not Been Convicted Of A Felony In Order To Run For Constable In The Upcoming County Primary Election On May 1st. The District Attorney’s Office Requested The Probe. Coffey Allegedly Had A Felony Conviction In Avery County North Carolina. This Contradicted What Coffey Claimed On An Election Commission Affidavit. Under State Law, A Convicted Felon Cannot Serve As A Constable. The Investigation Is Continuing.
