Tennessee House Majority Leader Jason Mumpower Has Announced He Won’t Be Seeking Re-Election. The Bristol Lawmaker Was The Republican Nominee To Become Speaker After The Gop Gained A 50-49 Majority In 2008. But Fellow Republican Representative Kent Williams Banded Together With All The Chamber’s Democrats To Thwart Mumpower’s Bid By A Single Vote. He Said He Won’t Be A Candidate This Fall For The Seat He First Won 14 Years Ago. Mumpower Added He’s Pleased To Start A New Phase In His Life, But Did Not Say What He Plans To Do. He Will Serve Out His Term Through The End Of 2010. A New Representative For The 3rd Houst District Will Be Elected In November.
