WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE LEADERS WILL MEET TONIGHT TO DECIDE ON A WHEEL TAX FOR NEXT YEAR AND 35 CENT PROPERTY TAX INCREASE. COMMISSIONERS HAVE SAID ONCE THE WHEEL TAX KICKS IN, THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO ROLL 11 CENTS OFF THE PROPERTY TAX RATE FOR THE 2008-2009 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET. THE WHEEL TAX WILL BE USED TO PAY BACK MORE THAN 138-MILLION DOLLARS IN BONDS TAKEN OUT FOR SCHOOL AND JUSTICE CENTER PROJECTS. THE DECISION WILL HAVE TO PASSED BY A TWO THIRDS MARGIN IN ORDER FOR IT TO GO INTO EFFECT.
