NEW SCHOOL STANDARDS

Tennessee’s education commissioner told school board members from across the state that a majority of schools could fail to meet testing goals this year because of higher standards. Timothy Webb also said more students are likely to be held back a grade and the school boards should be prepared for the backlash. Schools and districts face increasingly harsh punitive action, culminating in state takeover, if they fail to meet the testing goals year after year.
