Witnesses say a Kingsport boy’s football pads might have prevented worse injuries when his mother’s car ran over him. Kingsport police say fifth grader Logan Hicks apparently put the car into reverse as he sat in the running vehicle while his mother went into a pharmacy. Sergeant Bryan Bishop says the boy tried to get out and the door hit him, rolling him under the moving car. The boy was taken to a hospital with injuries believed to be minor. Bishop says a wrecker driver was in the parking lot and used a jack to lift up the car and take the weight off the boy while an ambulance arrived.
