A CHILHOWIE VIRGINIA MAN FACES CHARGES AFTER ALLEGEDLY SHOOTING A POLICE OFFICER WHO CAME TO HIS HOME ON A DOMESTIC CALL. 43 YEAR OLD BILLY JOE PARRIS IS CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED CAPITAL MURDER AND USE OF A FIREARM IN THE COMMISSION OF A FELONY. CHILHOWIE POLICE CHIEF STEVE PRICE AND LT. KEVIN TESTERMAN RESPONDED TO A DOMESTIC SITUATION YESTERDAY MORNING AT A TRAILER ON TINY TOWN AVENUE. THEY WERE MET WITH PARRIS BRANDISHING A SHOTGUN AND REFUSING TO PUT IT DOWN. HE AND TESTERMAN EXCHANGED GUNFIRE, WITH PELLETS FROM THE SHOTGUN STRIKING TESTERMAN IN THE ARM, STOMACH AND ONE HITTING HIS HEAD. TESTERMAN IS IN STABLE CONDITION AT JOHNSTON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN ABINGDON, WHILE PARRIS IS IN FAIR CONDITION AT BRISTOL REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER. PARRIS WAS SHOT IN THE LOWER BODY. THE INCIDENT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION. PARRIS WILL BE ARRAIGNED ON THE CHARGES ONCE HE IS FREED FROM A LOCAL HOSPITAL.
