The Wise County Virginia Board Of Supervisors Is Seeking Federal Funds To Help Pay For The Consolidation Of Six Existing High Schools Into Three New Ones. The Estimated Cost Of That Project Is Upwards Of 100-Million Dollars. The Board Of Supervisors Has Approved Seeking New Bonded Debt Totaling 42 Million For The Project. Current Rules Only Allow For The Funding To Be Used For Refurbishing Existing Schools, Not New Construction. County Leaders Are Hopeful Current Federal Law Will Allow Them To Use The Funding Towards Building The Three New Schools. The Board Of Supervisors Will Meet Thursday.
