All seven inmates who escaped from the Hamblen County Jail last week, including a federal prisoner, are back behind bars. Chief Deputy Wayne Mize said the last inmate, Nathan Carroll, was captured without incident in a trailer in the county Friday night. There were 69 inmates in the 32-bed dormitory-style annex where the inmates overpowered a guard to escape Tuesday night. But 62 inmates decided not to take flight. All but one of the escaped inmates were tracked and found in the surrounding area. Nicholas Kyle Short was the only one who left the state. Short was apprehended Thursday night by U-S Marshals in Lubbock, Texas.
