THE PRESIDENT OF KING COLLEGE HAS ANNOUNCED A PROPOSED MEDICAL SCHOOL WILL BE BASED IN SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA RATHER THAN TENNESSEE. THE REASON IS DUE TO A 25-MILLION DOLLAR GRANT FROM THE VIRGINIA TOBACCO COMMISSION. SCHOOL PRESIDENT GREG JORDAN SAID KINGSPORT WILL HAVE A SATELLITE CAMPUS AT HOLSTON VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER WHILE A SIMILAR FACILITY WILL BE LOCATED AT BRISTOL REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER. STUDENTS WILL SPEND THE FIRST TWO YEARS AT THE VIRGINIA BASED MEDICAL SCHOOL, WHILE THIRD AND FOURTH YEAR ROTATIONS AND RESIDENCY WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE KINGSPORT AND BRISTOL CAMPUSES.
