The Tennessee Department Of Environmental Conservation Is Cleaning Up Thousands Of Old Tires Out Of The Nolichucky River In Greene County. The Tires Were Reportedly Dumped Into The River Back In The Late 50’s And Early 60’s From A Tire Distributor And Other People In The County. There Were No Rules And Regulations At The Time Of The Incident, So The Cleanup Has Now Falling Into The Hands Of The Government And Concerned Citizens. It Could Cost Between 50 And 75 Thousand Dollars To Clean About Three Thousand Tires Out Of The Water.
