A Federal Jury In U.S. District Court In Abingdon Has Ruled In Favor Of A Southwest Virginia Newspaper Publisher. They Ruled The Buchanan County School Board Violated The Constitutional Rights Of Earl Cole By Restricting His Access To School Grounds In 2006. The Jury Also Ordered The School Board To Pay 200-Thousand Dollars In Damages. Cole’s Attorney Michael Bragg Said This Will Hopefully Teach The School Board A Lesson That They Can’t Do This To Members Of The Press And Citizens Of Buchanan County. School Board Attorney Jim Guynn Said He Was Disappointed In The Verdict And Will Recommend His Client Appeal.
