A Kingsport Chemical Company Has Been Fined Thousands Of Dollars For Polluting The South Fork Of Holston River Several Times Over The Last Two Years. The Fines From The Tennessee Department Of Environment And Conservation Handed Down To Eastman Stem From Six Separate Incidents Including Release Of 64 Pounds Of Motor Oil, 295-Thousand Gallons Of Dilute Wastewater, And 130-Thousand Gallons Of Process Wastewater. Eastman Is Required To Pay A Civil Fine Of Around 13-Thousand Dollars Which Includes Payments To The Twra To Investigate The Deaths Of At Least 20 Fish. The Company Was Also Ordered To Update Its Emergency Response Plan And Submit A Corrective Action Plan.
