A Gate City, Virginia Organization That Serves The Needs Of Low To Moderate Income Individuals In Southwest Virginia Has Received A Volunteer Generation Fund Grant. Fred Starnes, Executive Director For The Appalachian Community Action Agency Said The Money Will Be Used To Target High School Seniors And At-Risk Preschoolers In Lee, Scott, Wise, And Dickenson Counties And The City Of Norton. One Part Of The Grant Will Include Recruitment Of Volunteers Who Will Serve As One-To-One Mentors To High School Seniors, Especially Those Who Will Be First Generation College Students.
