The Hawkins County Commission’s Newly Formed Audit Committee Will Meet Later This Month To Discuss One Negative Finding In The 2014-15 Audit. The Finding Pertains To The Purchase Last Year Of Two Sets Of Industrial Washing Machines, Which Individually Didn’t Surpass The 10-Thousand Dollar Threshold That Requires Competitive Bidding But Had A Total Combined Cost Of 19-Thousand Dollars For The First Set And Just Over 15-Thousand For The Second Set. The New Washers Are Used For Washing Athletic Uniforms At Volunteer And Cherokee High Schools And Replaced The Original Washers From 1980. The State Comptroller’s Division Of Local Audits Is Suggesting The County Government And School Government Operate Under A Centralized System Of Accounting And Budget. A Committee Meeting Is Set For May 21st At 1pm.
