Lee County Virginia Is Getting Closer To Having A Hospital Again. The Lee County Hospital Authority Has Completed The Purchase Of The Facility From Wellmont. The Authority Is Planning To Open Up At Least A Portion Of The Former Lee Regional Medical Center By Mid-November. This After The Acquisition Of The Building Was Completed Earlier This Week. Commissioners Signed A Contract Agreeing To Pay Wellmont Health System 1.6 Million Dollars For The Building. Wellmont Closed The Pennington Gap Hospital In 2013 Citing Reimbursement Cuts And Low Community Support.
