Johnson City Educational Leaders Are Considering Joining In A Lawsuit Against The State To Acquire More Funding For The School System. The Suit Was Filed In The 1990’s. The Suit Aims To Fully Fund The State’s Basic Education Program. It Argues The More-Affluent School Systems Are Able To Provide Funding, Drawing Upon Sources That Are Unavailable To Less-Affluent Systems. The Costs, According To The Suit Are 64-Million Dollars In Teacher’s Health Insurance And Classroom Losses Of 134-Million Dollars. City Leaders Are Expected To Make A Decision Soon Whether Or Not To Join Suit.
