A SULLIVAN COUNTY JURY HAS FAILED TO REACH A VERDICT IN THE TRIAL OF A KINGSPORT MAN ACCUSED IN A DOUBLE MURDER NEARLY THREE YEARS AGO. AS A RESULT JUDGE ROBERT MONTGOMERY DECLARED A MISTRIAL IN THE CASE OF MICHAEL DAVID FIELDS. THE STATE AND DEFENSE ATTORNEYS WILL MEET ON OCTOBER 30TH TO SET A NEW TRIAL DATE. FIELDS IS CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF PREMEDITATED MURDER, FELONY MURDER, AND ESPECIALLY AGGRAVATED ROBBERY IN THE 2006 MURDER OF ASHIAH FOSTER AND GLEN THACKER. MEANWHILE, FIELDS WILL BE BACK IN COURT NEXT MONTH TO STAND TRIAL FOR THE STABBING DEATH OF KAREN NUCKLES AT BALLIS TOURIST HOME.
