The top Republican in the state Senate is throwing cold water on an effort to revive Gov. Bill Haslam’s Insure Tennessee proposal.
Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey of Blountville says it’s unlikely that the measure makes it to a full floor vote even though it appears to have decent prospects in its initial committee. The Senate TennCare Subcommittee voted 3-2 this week to give a positive recommendation to the resolution. Meanwhile, a Haslam spokesman said the governor supports the move to rekindle the measure that failed in a special legislative session last month.
