SOME BAD ECONOMIC NEWS FOR THE TRI CITIES. THE TRACO PLANT IN JOHNSON CITY HAS ANNOUNCED PLANS TO CLOSE ITS DOORS. THE MOVE WILL PUT 180 PEOPLE OUT OF WORK. TRACO SPOKESWOMAN DENISE ABRAHAM SAID THE SHUTDOWN IS THE RESULT OF THE COMPANY MOVING IT’S JOHNSON CITY OPERATIONS TO ITS MAIN FACILITY NEAR PITTSBURGH. COMPANY OFFICIALS SAID THIS WAS A VERY DIFFICULT DECISION. TRACO SPECIALIZES IN MAKING ENERGY EFFICIENT WINDOWS AND DOORS AND HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS IN THE TRI CITIES FOR TEN YEARS.
