TESTIMONY CONTINUES TODAY IN SULLIVAN COUNTY CRIMINAL COURT IN THE TRIAL OF A KINGSPORT MAN ACCUSED OF BEATING A CITY COUPLE TO DEATH WITH A BASEBALL BAT. 40 YEAR OLD MICHAEL DAVID FIELDS IS CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS EACH OF PREMEDITATED FIRST DEGREE MURDER, FELONY MURDER, AND ESPECIALLY AGGRAVATED ROBBERY IN THE JULY 2006 DEATHS OF GLEN THACKER AND ASIAH FOSTER WALTON. DURING YESTERDAY’S OPENING ARGUMENTS, THE DEFENSE THREW OUT THE POSSIBILITY THAT FIELDS’ BROTHER WAS THE ONE WHO KILLED THE COUPLE AND SET HIM UP TO TAKE THE BLAME. THE TRIAL IS EXPECTED TO LAST THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK.
