Public Works Employees With The Town Of Abingdon, Virginia Are Continuously Removing Snow And Ice From Local Roadways. With The Current And Forecast Temperature Range, Packed Snow And Ice Will Be Difficult To Fully Remove. When Temperatures Are Below 20 Degrees, John Dew, Director Of Public Services For The Town, Said The Salt Does Not Chemically Melt The Snow And Ice Effectively. All Town Roads Have Been Plowed, And Most Roads Have Also Had Small Gravel Mixed In With Salt To Improve Traction. Efforts Will Continue Until The Roads Are Cleared.
