The Virginia and Tennessee Departments of Transportation say crews are sanding and plowing through much of the state as a winter storm is passing through the region. Plows are clearing roads. Motorists are advised to limit or postpone their travels until the worst storm of the winter season passes. Crews are focusing their snow-removal operations first on the interstate and primary highways. The goal is to make all state-maintained roads passable within 48 hours after the storm ends.
