MOUNTAIN EMPIRE COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN BIG STONE GAP VIRGINIA HAS SET A RECORD ENROLLMENT. JUST OVER 25-HUNDRED STUDENTS SIGNED UP FOR THE FALL SEMESTER. THIS IS NEARLY 11 PERCENT MORE THAN THE SAME TIME LAST YEAR. THE RECORD ENROLLMENT COMES IN THE MIDST OF STATE BUDGET CUTS. THE COLLEGE HAS SEEN ITS BUDGET TRIMMED 10 PERCENT IN THE LAST TWO YEARS AND COULD POSSIBLY FACE AN ADDITIONAL 15 PERCENT CUT THIS FALL.
