THE WISE COUNTY VIRGINIA SCHOOL BOARD IS REVIEWING PLANS FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF SIX OF THE COUNTY’S HIGH SCHOOLS INTO THREE NEW ONES. DURING LAST NIGHT’S MEETING, SCHOOL LEADERS REVIEWED A CONSOLIDATION PLAN. IT’S TO RECEIVE THE FIRST-ROUND OF PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING REPORTS FROM POTENTIAL CONTRACTORS IN THE COMING WEEKS, REVIEW AND SELECT LEADING PROPOSALS BY EARLY OCTOBER, RECEIVE MORE DETAILED SECOND-ROUND PROPOSALS BY MID NOVEMBER, AND AWARD BIDS BY EARLY DECEMBER. EDUCATIONAL LEADERS WILL CONSIDER RETAINING A MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT TO OVERSEE THE SCHOOL DIVISION’S HIGH SCHOOL CONSOLIDATION PLAN DURING ITS SEPTEMBER ACTION SESSION IN SEVERAL WEEKS.
