TESTIMONY WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING IN A BENCH TRIAL FOR A FORMER JOHNSON CITY EMPLOYEE ACCUSED IN A SCHEME TO DEFRAUD THE CITY. 56 YEAR OLD DANNY DAVIS IS CHARGED WITH OVER 100 COUNTS OF FORGERY, ONE COUNT EACH OF MONEY LAUNDERING, OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT AND THEFT OVER 60-THOUSAND. HE ALLEGEDLY USED A FAKE COMPANY TO SUBMIT LOW BIDS ON PROJECTS AND WHEN THEY WON THE BIDS, HE HIRED CONTRACTORS TO COMPLETE THE WORK AT A LOWER COST AND THEN POCKETED THE REMAINING MONEY. A JUDGE WILL DECIDE DAVIS’ FATE. THE TRIAL COULD WRAP UP AS EARLY AS TODAY.
