WITH SCHOOLS BACK IN SESSION, AREA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES ARE URGING CITIZENS TO DRIVE SAFELY AROUND SCHOOL ZONES. THE UNICOI COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT WILL BE WATCHING FOR RECKLESS AND CARELESS DRIVERS IN SCHOOL ZONES. THE SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMIT IS 15 MILES PER HOUR AND SCHOOL ZONE SPEEDS ARE ENFORCED ONE HOUR BEFORE AND ONE HOUR AFTER AND DURING SCHOOL HOURS AND SPECIAL EVENTS. SHERIFF KENT HARRIS SAID DEPUTIES WILL ALSO BE ALERT FOR ANY SUSPICICOUS PEOPLE OR ACTIVITY AROUND SCHOOL ZONES.
