THE JONESBORO BOARD OF MAYOR AND ALDERMAN DECIDED TO OPT OUT OF A STATE LAW TAKING EFFECT IN SEPTEMBER THAT WOULD ALLOW PERMIT HOLDERS TO CARRY GUNS IN LOCAL PARKS. AS PART OF THEIR DECISION, LEADERS ATTACHED A ONE-YEAR SUNSHINE PROVISION TO THE VOTE. THIS WOULD MEAN AFTER A YEAR, LAWMAKERS CAN PUT THE GUNS IN PARKS MEASURE TO ANOTHER VOTE. JONESBORO JOINS JOHNSON CITY AND BRISTOL IN BANNING GUNS IN THEIR LOCAL PARKS.
