KINGSPORT POLICE HAVE RECEIVED A PRELIMINARY AUTOPSY REPORT REGARDING THE DEATH OF A 2-YEAR OLD TODDLER FOUND DEAD IN A QUARRY OFF BEARTOWN ROAD LAST WEEK. NATHAN WHITEAKER’S BODY WAS DISCOVERED LAST TUESDAY AT THE BOTTOM OF A CLIFF THAT DROPPED OFF MORE THAN 200 FEET AT THE VULVAN MATERIALS COMPANY’S ROCK QUARRY ON DENEEN LANE. DEPUTY CHIEF DAVID QUILLIN SAID, ACCORDING TO THE REPORT, THE INJURIES SUSTAINED BY THE LITTLE BOY APPEAR TO BE CONSISTENT WITH A FALL. RESCUERS BEGAN LOOKING FOR THE BOY AFTER HIS MOTHER, AMBER WHITEAKER, SAID HE WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND AFTER SHE WENT INSIDE A FRIEND’S RESIDENCE MOMENTARILY. THE QUARRY WHERE THE CHILD WAS LOCATED THROUGH SOME DENSE WOODS ABOUT THREE QUARTERS OF A MILE FROM THE HOME WHERE HE WAS REPORTED MISSING.
