TESTIMONY WILL CONTINUE ON THURSDAY IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE CRIMINAL COURT FOR NICHOLAS TIPTON, WHO IS ACCUSED OF VIOLENTLY RAPING HIS THEN-GIRLFRIEND WHO IS CONFINED TO A WHEELCHAIR AT A JOHNSON CITY MOTEL LAST YEAR. THE VICTIM IS PARALYZED FROM THE WAIST DOWN. THE INCIDENT ALLEGEDLY OCCURRED AT THE BEST WESTERN MOTEL ON ROAN STREET IN SEPTEMBER 2007. ON WEDNESDAY, PROSECUTORS CHARACTERIZED THE WOMAN AS THE PERFECT VICTIM, SINCE SHE WAS UNABLE TO FIGHT OFF TIPTON,WHO ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED HER AFTER A NIGHT OF HEAVY DRINKING. WHEN TAKEN TO A HOSPITAL, THE VICTIM HAD A SWOLLEN RIGHT EYE AND CHOKE MARKS ON HER THROAT. TIPTON WAS CHARGED WITH THREE COUNTS OF AGGRAVATED RAPE, AND COULD BE SENTENCED TO A MAXIMUM OF 25 YEARS IN PRISON IF CONVICTED. THE DEFENSE IS EXPECTED TO BEGINS ITS CASE TODAY. THE TRIAL COULD LAST THE REST OF THIS WEEK.
