A FORMER JOHNSON CITY EMPLOYEE ACCUSED OF SENDING CITY JOBS TO A FAKE COMPANY HE SETUP, WILL GO TO TRIAL NEXT YEAR IN WASHINGTON COUNTY TENNESSEE CRIMINAL COURT. 55 YEAR OLD DANNY DAVIS WORKED FOR 29 YEARS FOR THE CITY UNTIL HE WAS FIRED LAST JUNE AFTER BEING INDICTED ON CHARGES INCLUDING MONEY LAUNDERING, OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT, THEFT OVER 60-THOUSAND DOLLARS AND 48 COUNTS OF FORGERY. DAVIS WAS IN CHARGE OF THE CITY’S BIDDING PROCESS WHEN HE ALLEGEDLY CREATED A FAKE COMPANY, GRAY HOME IMPROVEMENT, AND USED HIS POSITION TO UNDER BID OTHER COMPANIES THAT SUBMITTED BIDS FOR CITY PROJECTS. AUTHORITIES ALLEGE AFTER DAVIS WON THE BID, HE WOULD COMPLETE THE WORK AT COSTS LOWER THAN THE CONTRACT AMOUNT AND POCKETED THE LEFT OVER MONEY. DAVIS IS FREE ON BOND UNTIL HIS TRIAL WHICH IS SET FOR APRIL 6TH.
