TWO ELIZABETHTON MEN ACCUSED OF CONSPIRING TO REPORT A TRUCK STOLEN IN ORDER TO GET INSURANCE MONEY HAVE BEEN INDICTED BY A CARTER COUNTY GRAND JURY. 22 YEAR OLD DUSTIN LEDBETTER IS CHARGED WITH INSURANCE FRAUD AND FILING A FALSE REPORT, WHILE 33 YEAR OLD JEFFRY COONTZ IS CHARGED WITH INSURANCE FRAUD. POLICE INVESTIGATED A REPORT FILED IN AUGUST OF A TRUCK BELONGING TO DUSTIN LEDBETTER THAT HAD BEEN STOLEN FROM THE WAL-MART ON OVERMOUNTAIN DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS DISCOVERED AT A LATER DATE ON ROARING CREEK ROAD 150 FEET OVER AN EMBANKMENT. STATE FARM INSURANCE SETTLED THE CLAIM IN THE AMOUNT OF 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS. AUTHORITIES REVIEWED A VIDEO TAPE AND WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY COONTZ AS THE ONE WHO ALLEGEDLY TOOK THE TRUCK. IT WAS ALSO LEARNED THAT COONTZ WAS LEDBETTER’S BROTHER-IN-LAW. THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE TWO ALLEGEDLY CONSPIRED TO DISPOSE OF THE TRUCK AND FILE AN INSURANCE CLAIM. THE TWO WILL APPEAR IN CRIMINAL COURT SOON.
